The
magnetic field is the only field
where the lines of force that show the direction of the field can be
made visible.
In the visual on
the
left you can see a surface covered with iron filings. If you click on
the magnet control, you will see the lines of force because each iron
particle turns into a small magnet and they all line up according to
the lines of force.
There is a convention that
states that lines
of force leave from the north pole of the magnet and enter the south
pole, as we can see in the figure attached.
Inside the magnet,
the
lines of force are parallel, which means that the value of the field
intensity is homogeneous.
